Dick Benjamin, un membre de longue date du club trouvé ce bateau sur un récent voyage à la région du lac Tahoe. Voici l'histoire sur la façon dont le bateau est né.
En 1957, une famille riche, sur le lac Tahoe (sont-ils pas tous?) A acheté un nouveau cabriolet impériale pour leur fils, qui était diplômé de l'école secondaire, et bien sûr besoin d'une voiture fiable pour se rendre à l'université.
Comme jeunes de 18 ans étaient les mêmes 50 ans qu'ils le sont aujourd'hui, il promptement pris et il a heurté un arbre.
La famille avait la voiture remorquée jusqu'à un atelier de réparation, où il a été prononcé irréparables. Sooo, car ils pensaient avoir un nouveau bateau construit pour eux à cette époque, ils ont décidé que les restes de l'Impériale pourrait être utilisé en partie pour construire le bateau. Donc ce que vous voyez ici est un 1957 Imperial Boat Convertible! Le pouvoir est toujours prévue par le Hemi 392 (je l'ai vu mais n'a pas pu obtenir une image - c'est dans la trappe du moteur dans le "tronc"), et a autant de l'intérieur et tableau de bord comme on pouvait être sauvé.
Il est répandu pour être le plus rapide en bateau sur le lac!
L'intérieur est l'original, du haut fonctionne toujours (et doit être mis vers le bas pour entrer dans le bateau, car les portes ne s'ouvrent pas plus), les vitres électriques fonctionnent toujours, comme tous les autres accessoires standard pour un Impérial 1957 convertibles. Ce fut un véritable knock-out, et j'espère le voir sur le lac prochaine fois que nous y monter.

Dick Benjamin, a long time club member found this Boat on a recent trip to the Lake Tahoe area. Here is the story about how the Boat came into being.
In 1957, a wealthy family on Lake Tahoe (aren't they all?) bought a new Imperial Convertible for their son, who was graduating from High School, and of course needed a reliable car to drive to college.
As 18 years olds were the same 50 years ago as they are today, he promptly took it out and ran it into a tree.
The family had the car towed to a repair shop, where it was pronounced unrepairable. Sooo, since they were thinking about having a new boat built for them at that time, they decided that the remains of the Imperial could be used in part to build the boat. So what you see here is a 1957 Imperial Convertible BOAT! Power is still provided by the 392 Hemi (I saw it but could not get a picture - it's in the engine hatch in the "trunk"), and has as much of the interior and dash as could be saved.
It is rumored to be the fastest boat on the lake!
The interior is the original, the top still works (and has to be put down to enter the boat, as the doors don't open any more), the power windows still work, as do all the other standard accessories for a 1957 Imperial Convertible. This was a real knockout, and I hope to see it on the lake next time we get up there.
